The Scottish Box of Mysteries

Click this text to start editing. This block is a basic combination of a title and a paragraph. Use it to welcome visitors to your website, or explain a product or service without using an image. Try keeping the paragraph short and breaking off the text-only areas of your page to keep your website interesting to visitors.

In May 2018 I purchased a box of photos from an online auction, pretty much sight unseen. The box came to the auction block from a moving company, and I picked them up in Summerstown, Ontario. Was the box left behind or forgotten in a move locally or across the country? It is a mystery...

The content of the box was quite surprising, the photos are from Scotland, the West Lothian/Uphall Station/Broxburn area. Some are military WW1 and WW2, also reference to India 1945. One document refers to Thomas Gilchrist Jr. Photos range from the late 1890s to mid-1950s. There is only 1 piece that seems to be Canadian concerning Capt. Warren Thompson of Nova Scotia in 1946 and also his Free Mason membership in Bermuda.

If you want to browse the photos and see if there is anything you recognize let me know. I would love to reunite the box and the descendants!

The photos are posted by category and I will be adding to this from time to time.
